A great game has swept the world in the form of cute little plants and terrifyingly funny zombies determined to shuffle their way into your home to eat your brains. Weird combination you say? We’ll I agree, as I was a bit skeptical about the logic behind this game.

After being poked for hours to just install the game already I gave in and started my first level. I reluctantly placed my first little green bobbing peashooting plant on the lawn only to see it spitting gooey peas at the oncoming horde. A warm fuzzy little feeling spread to my cheeks and before I could stop myself I was smiling like a maniac and promised gooey mushy death to the uncaring zombies shuffling on my perfectly manicured lawn! This resulted in playing the game for 4 hours straight. That’s right, it’s ADDICTIVE! Lo and behold I was planning and strategizing what’s the most economic way

to deploy my plants and save space for my watermelon bombs for some extra splash damage.

The thing that gripped me about this game is that its fun! Who cares about the cartooney graphics and lack of story line. I could practically switch my brain to, dare I say it, zombie mode and have fun! The basic story line is that an oncoming horde of zombies want to eat your brains and you have to stop them. Easy? not in your wildest dreams, a good balance of strategizing and deck building wins the day.

George Fan, the creator, originally came up with the idea after playing Warcraft 3 Tower defense and Magic: The Gathering. He initially wanted to create a tower defense with plants but was loathe to implement the old mazing and juggling act. Instead he chose the 5 lane setup to simplify the game. His idea of introducing “cards” to the game only arrived after teaching his girlfriend how to play Magic: The Gathering.  George and his gf, Laura Shigihara, combined talents of creating games and music brought forth the completed module you most likely are playing now.

I would definetly recommend this game for the avid gamer who’s just looking for a easy game to take off that big responsibility of “saving the world”(again) from his/her shoulders.
