Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the screaming Narwhal
Tellgames & Lucas Arts
Launch
of the Screaming Narwhal is the
first installment of Tales of Monkey
Island. This episodic series (like Sam n Max) is co-developed by Telltale
Games and LucasArts. The creators brought back most of the voice actors of the
previous Monkey Island game, alas the voice for the
zombie pirate Le Chuck ,Earl Boen, is the only exclusion.
You start off (once again)
as the roguishly handsome and daring Guybrush Threepwood (Mighty Pirate) who
has to save his wife,Elaine, from the
evil decomposing clutches of the zombie
pirate Le Chuck. Using his Cursed Cutlass of Kaflu, which according to the
voodoo lady can finish Le Chuck, Guybrush accidentally transforms the pirate
into a human and in gets infected with the “pox of Le Chuck”. A mighty
explosion occurs and you wash ashore onto Flotsam bay where the rest of the
swashbuckling adventure begins.
While playing the first episode of Monkey Island I was overjoyed with the graphics and feel of the game. Monkey Island 4`s use of controls and visuals just made me want to rip out the keyboard and beat up a three headed monkey (although id come out the worse for it). The story line is interesting and fun, with the same old good humor of the monkey island prequels. Each character you encounter has their own distinct personality and mannerisism which only make you smile and wish you could instantly grow a beard and sail the seven seas.
The puzzle section of the game can sometimes be challenging and other times pretty obvious…and sometimes mostly click every object on this object hoping it would do something…not that I do that, I’m just saying.
Funny and puzzle-worthy as
ever I will most certainly recommend this to most Monkey Island
and adventure game fans!In fact…I already did…go buy it now!
